ArCa Pay
Overview
Note on classification. This entry was originally bucketed as a QR standard, but arca pay is not a QR-symbol standard — it is an instant payment settlement rail. Reclassified as
Instant payment. The wiki shows no playground because there is no QR payload to encode; the slug is retained to avoid breaking incoming links.
ArCa Pay (ArcaPay) is Armenia's national instant money-transfer system using phone-number addressing, launched 8 November 2024 by Armenian Card CJSC (Arca) [1, 2, [am-cro]]. The platform enables instant transfers between clients of Armenian banks + payment companies using only the recipient's phone number — eliminating the need to know banking details. Initial participating banks: Ameriabank, Evocabank, Converse Bank with subsequent expansion to Ardshinbank, AraratBank, Armeconombank, Byblos Bank Armenia.
The structural distinction: ArCa Pay clients can choose the account type (current, card, or other) to which funds will be directed — flexible recipient-side account-targeting unusual in peer phone-addressed payment systems. Plus lower transfer fees compared to inter-card transactions — adoption-driver pricing. ArCa Pay is a companion to arcaqr (Armenia's national unified QR launched 30 September 2024) — Arca's two-product national-payment-modernisation strategy: instant transfers (ArcaPay) + unified QR (ArcaQR). ArCa is supervised by the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA). The Bank of Georgia + Ameriabank Memorandum of Understanding signals potential Caucasian regional payment-system integration — Armenia-Georgia cooperation. Together with shetab (Iran), Mada (SA), and other major MENA + Caucasian payment systems, ArCa Pay represents emerging regional payment-system maturity.
