NamPay
Overview
Note on classification. This entry was originally bucketed as a QR standard, but nampay is not a QR-symbol standard — it is an ISO 20022 EFT migration. Reclassified as
EFT. The wiki shows no playground because there is no QR payload to encode; the slug is retained to avoid breaking incoming links.
NamPay is Namibia's Enhanced Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) system, introduced by the Payment Association of Namibia (PAN) in partnership with banking institutions and suppliers [1, 2, [na-cro]]. NamPay represents a structural modernisation upgrade of Namibia's national-payment infrastructure — replacing the existing EFT system with ISO 20022 messaging-standard-compliant modern payment processing. The system comprises three new payment streams: EnDO (enhanced debit orders), EnCR (enhanced credit payments), and NRTC (near-real-time credit payment) — which together transform Namibian electronic fund transfers.
NamPay's 18-month customer-migration period seamlessly transitioned Namibian businesses + public to the new system while the legacy EFT ran in parallel — a measured implementation approach contrasting with sudden cutovers. Fast Pay enables payments to reflect in recipient's bank account within 30 minutes (during business hours, with additional fee); NRTC payments reflect within one minute on customer accounts when processed between 04:00 + 16:00 weekdays. Bank Windhoek, FNB Namibia, Nedbank Namibia, Standard Bank Namibia, Bank of Namibia + PAN co-developed NamPay under Namibia's National Payment System Vision and Strategy 2021-2025.
